About Me

Hello, welcome! My name is Daniel Chen, a Senior at Merced High School located in Merced, California. I am the one on the right in the picture, next to my brother David. I have an interest in STEM topics like Mathematics, Economics, Biology, and Computer Science.

I am currently working on a research project to estimate the prescription for people with myopia (such as myself) without having to visit an optometrist. Stay tuned! I will be posting updates to the Research tab.

As a hobby and a learning opportunity, I do programming projects in various languages and frameworks in my free time. Most of my current projects are games since they present the most interesting and dynamic coding challenges. Please visit my Projects tab to check out what I have created. You can also visit my Github page to see the code.

I also participate in various academic competitions in Math, Biology, and Programming. In Mathematics, I am an AIME qualifier in 2020 and 2021. In Biology, I am a USABO semifinalist in 2019 and 2021. In Computer Science, I am a USACO Gold competitor and I am currently working hard in 2021 to try to qualify for the Platinum division in December. In Academic Decathlon, I am the Top Overall Scorer in the Merced County Decathlon and the California State Individual Heptathlon.

Outside of academics, I enjoy tennis, swimming, piano, cooking, and reading. In addition, I have a cat called Mochi, who I love playing with.
